Big, Great, Wonderful World collection [Spellbinders]

Hello friends! I recently was able given the opportunity to play with a new release of dies from Spellbinders Paper Arts. This new collection; Big, Great, Wonderful World by Sharyn Sowell is just absolutely stunning. The dies are so detailed an intricate but they cut just beautifully.

I got the chance to use two of the dies from this collection, the Sun Face  as well as Love & Flowers. You know I my favorite techniques involve ink blending and I used that to showcase these dies here.

For the first card I used some 110 lb cardstock and die cut my sun. I then lightly inked the edges of the die using some distress oxide in mustard seed. For the background I did some spotlight blending with more mustard seed in the middle upper third of the card and then around the edges I brought in some Worn Lipstick to give a nice warm sunset feel. The sentiment is white heat embossing on vellum so as not to distract from the Sun which is the main focus. I then splattered the whole thing with some gold watercolor.

My second card features more ink blending but I added in some purple to my sunset using shaded lilac and just a hint wilted violet on the very top edge to darken it. This time I chose to do a silhouette style with my die cut. I used a partial die cut technique right at the very bottom so I could cut out a hilltop edge to make the children seem to be standing in a field at sunset. This sentiment is also white heat embossed but right to the die cut itself this time.
