Pretty Things Survivors Do Blog Hop (Giveaway)









My card is made using the Anemones stamp set from Pretty Pink Posh. I water colored the background using distress inks in shabby shutters, bundled sage, pumice stone, milled lavender & dusty concord. If you would like to see the video please visit You Tube Here for the best version.

Pretty Things Survivors Do: PTSD is a “psychiatric disorder that can occur in people who have experienced or witnessed a traumatic event such as a natural disaster, serious accident, terrorist act, war/combat, rape or other violent personal assault.” (American Psychiatric Association definition) Although mostly associated with war veterans, it affects 3.5% of the population and 4% of US children ages 13-18 will experience PTSD in their lifetime. About 8 million adults have PTSD during a given year. (Bran and Behavior Research Foundation) The holidays are a difficult time for those living with PTSD. We are participating in the blog hop in the hopes that you may be reminded to reach out to loved ones, neighbors, and friends who could be living with PTSD daily. If one person is remembered this holiday season, then we have achieved our goal of spreading awareness. Below you will find different ways you can help those with PTSD.

  13. Thank you for sharing Sharna. I was also in a bad relationship in college. It was short (not even a year) but it felt like forever, and looking back, I can't believe all the lies I fell for, but that's the problem with manipulative relastionships, only the outsider can spot it.

  28. I am sorry you went through that. That's one of the many horrible things I've gone through in my own life. Plus, I already suffered from PTSD as a result of the environment I was raised in. And I suffer from depression which for me is genetic(inherited from my biological father's side), medical, and just a part of who I am.

    I am so glad you had family and friends that were able to help you. Friends are so important because sometimes when you go through this kind of stuff it's just nice to know there is an ear you can turn to. Who won't judge you. But instead help to buoy you back up.
