Get Cracking on Christmas Oct - Jenn Shurkus

Hello Crafty Friends! Thanks for joining me on another edition of Get Cracking on Christmas!

My good friend Jenn Shurkus (Shurkus.com) has been doing the Get Cracking series for several years. Each month on the third Thursday we will be posting new inspiration and hopefully encourage you to get Cracking on Christmas!

If you want to participate (and there is a prize!) head over here to the link up! Or use the hashtag #getcrackingonchristmas on Instagram to participate.

I started this card with the background ink blending (you know its my favorite!) This background was done with Speckled Egg, Peacock feathers and a bit of ground expresso distress oxide ink to darken the bottom. I just feel like it helps ground the whole scene instead of floating. I also stamped the branches with the same ground expresso. I then took some white metallic watercolor to splatter the background to add snow (and shine!). Lastly I stamped the sentiment using the same Peacock Feathers distress oxide on a sentiment strip.

The birds and branch are from Lawn Fawn's Winter Sparrows stamp set. I used copic markers to color them and stuck to the sparrow theme because I love little puffy brown sparrows in the winter on our bird feeders! I added a little more sparkle with a sparkle Sakura Gelly Roll pen. I've had this one pen forever and it still works great!

Copics: E44, E43, E41, 0; BG45, BG13, BG10, Y35.

To finish it off I added some Stitched Snowflakes Lawn Cuts using the white Lawn Fawn pixie dust sparkle cardstock. I should also mention this card is not A2. This measures 3.5 x 5 inches. I am loving this card size right now just for something different.

  1. Love this set and it looks so good in blue. Get Cracking is a great idea I'm off to do just that. Thanks for sharing.
