Yeti & Bigs

Hi! I haven't posted in a while. Got a new card for Lawnscaping Challenge. I adore texture for winter cards because I really love snow.  I made the yeti into a Bigfoot so the yeti had a little friend. I used masking pen over them so I could shade the background. I use the molotov pen. Its a ton of fun. I got mine at Hobby Lobby if you can't find it. Its by the painting section not the crafter's section. I used wink of stella for some snowflakes in the background and snow is embossing paste. I love it for the snow, its got lots of height to it. And the brown background is a wood texture embossing folder.

A Rainbow of goodies!

I adore all things rainbow. Its been a small obsession of mine for the last oh 20 years haha! I hoard rainbow paper, stamps, clothing, jewelry... anyways. This next project is inspired by that. Hope you enjoy!

Supply info can be found on the Butterfly Reflections Ink.

I'm also entering it into the newest Lawnscaping Challenge.
I mean how could I not?! Ha!

Snail Mail - LawnScaping No. 103

Not the best picture, but I adore this card. Made using the new Lawn Fawn into the Garden set. I made this to enter into the new Lawnscaping challegene so it has a ton of dimension! I mean I normally use a bunch of 3m tape but this thing has layers ontop of layers. The sky background is the bottom layer which is popped up, the white frame layer is popped up with two layers from that layer, the white clouds are one layer sitting between the background and the frame along with the flowers. The humming bird and snail are also popped up from the frame along with the snail mail banner.

Distress Ink Challenge for LawnScaping

http://lawnscaping.blogspot.ca/2015/03/lawnscaping-challenge-distress-addicts.html

New card made for Lawnscaping Challenge!

Used:
Tim Holtz watercolor paper
Distress ink in Marigold & Picked Raspberries
Lawn Fawn Let's Polka Mon Ami 6x6
Lawn Fawn Gleeful Gardens
Pretty Pink Posh Sequins

So Lucky - Lawn Fawn

So I knew I wanted a to use my new Lawn Fawn stamp set "My Lucky Charm". I also knew I wanted to make a shaker card & this is what happened! Polka dotted papers are also from Lawn Fawn, the mint from the newest 6x6 pad Lets Polka Mon Amie. The scalloped border is from the Lawn Cuts Stitched Scalloped borders set, the second smallest one. The papers were die cut using the small Stitched Rectangles dies.

Sequins in the shaker are from Pretty Pink Posh in Mint, Sparkling Clear & Gold.

I used 3M foam tape doubled up to make the shaker pocket and ran my anti static powder tool around the inside edges to make sure the sequins didn't stick to any of the tape.

100th Challenge - Lawnscaping

Big congrats to Lawnscaping on their 100th challenge!

Perfect time for me to get back into blogging.
I used the Hippo from Lawn Fawn's year four mini stamp set.
The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp sketchy banners.

I made the background using picked raspberry & wild honey distress inks & black distress paint.

The sequins are from Pretty Pink Poshin my favorite colors:
Marigold, Pink Peone & Sparkling Clear.

Sail Away withe me

Sail Away With Me
Close up on the glossy accents
When I first saw the new Lawn Fawn releases I knew I had to have this set; Float My Boat. I adore anything nautical.

I made the background with distress inks - spiced marmalade, stormy skies, peacock feathers & broken china. I just used a sponge applicator to lightly brush it on and blend them together. I start with the lightest color all over and gradually build to dark. I find I will have less sponge marks doing it this way. The sails on the boat I used peacock feathers and stormy skies.

I used some glossy accents on the boat bottom and flag for that little bit of "Bling" for the challenge. I also used it on the string to get that curvy look to hold its shape. The sentiment is from my well used and well loved Sketchy Banners from Simon Says Stamp.

All this was layered onto the new Let's Polka paper by Lawn Fawn. The yellow in this pack is my absolute favorite shade of yellow. Yellow is my favorite color, but this specific shade trumps all the others!

The Biggest Wishes

Biggest Wishes - Dino Shaker Card
When I first saw this set, Critters from the Past, I wasn't sure if I was going to get it. I was never a huge Dinosaur fan. But these dinos are just so stinkin cute!! I am so very glad I did end up picking this up and I even went back for the dies because I have used it so much.

Yesterday & the day before I went out and got a couple sets of basic copic colors as well. I stamped a bunch of this dino out on some cheap 110 lb cardstock. I tend to have a heavy hand when coloring with my copics right now so I destroyed a sheet of Neenah solar white. I used B00 on the body and shaded in B23 & the darker dots I did with B05. The tealish dots I did BG15. None of these colors wanted to blend really well for me, but touching tips really helped me smooth it out.

Using my square dies I cut out the middle of a rectangle to make a Polaroid that was just big enough to fit a Shake It pouch. I filled this with the new sequins from Lawn Fawn sequin packs. I adore the flower sequins which I added around the pouch for added bling factor using glossy accents.

All this was layered onto some Into The Woods paper from Lawn Fawn that I still have (in fact I bought three 6x6 pads because I love it so much). I liked the tone on tone color of the green dots from this pack, they competed less with the frame.

Waving Hello - Lawnscaping No. 74

I'm here with card # 2! I used the same supplies as my first card but chose a different lady for inspiration. This time I chose Jenn! I adore all of Jenn's cards, especially anything with glitter. So this time I chose her card from this post. I took the rest of my piece of water color background and layered it onto a piece of navy card stock. Originally I had the whole card out of Navy but I ended up not liking it, so I just cut it down. The first and bubbles are from Lawn Fawn's critters of the sea stamp set. I clear embossed them as well. I accidentally stamped the fish in non permanent ink on the vellum, which smears if you aren't careful so I embossed it. The edges, like the inspiration card, are edged with clear sparklie glitter. I didn't like how it looked all chunky so I burnished it with my finger.

Whale of a Time - Lawnscaping No. 74

So I have like a million ideas for all the cards I wanted to make for this challenge. All the Ladies are just so talented, its hard NOT to be inspired by their creations. :) I'm sure I will do one or two more today.

To start I chose Karin from Peppermint Patty's Papercrafts ; she does all these lovely watercolors and though I'm not one to watercolor very often any more, I did used to do it all the time. Since now I'm into card making, I love using distress paints & inks to water color with. I didn't choose a particular card, just the idea of water colors.

The whale is from Lawn Fawn's critters in the sea. I stamped him on some vellum & colored the other side with broken china. I smeared the ink on my craft sheet & then used a water brush to paint it on. The background I made using some water color paper and all my blue shades of ink/paint. I dabbed each color on my craft sheet & then misted my sheet of paper. Using a paint brush I picked up various shades and just blobbed them on the paper and misted some more. The thing I love about distress paints is how much they move around and run like water colors can. The mixture of the paint which is more opaque and the inks which are more transparent is what gives so much depth to the card. Its really hard to see the the photograph but I also used some perfect pearls mist as well.

CAS-ual Friday Stamps - Shenanigans
Lawn Fawn - Admit One Lawn Cuts & Stamps
Lawn Fawn - Sequins
Dear Lizzy paper - 5th & Frolic

New Year 2014

Its a new year and with a new year comes reflection and considerations of the new plans and goals. In the past year I have come so far in my card making and crafting. Being a part of this community has helped me grow in so many ways. I really have to thank Instagram for putting me in touch with new friends; Jenn, Nicole, Steph, Andrea & Vanessa and so many more... Their kindness, encouragement and general friendliness helped me open up and share more.

For the new year I have several new plans and goals. I really liked Jenn's post on choosing a word for the new year. I thought a lot about if I had to pick one word for what I wanted to accomplish what would it be? I decided for both my personal & creative life that would would be Explore. Explore new ideas, new places, new techniques, new possibilities. It covers so much, but I think some things have been holding me back. I plan to take that word and run with it. So... for the new year I will:

1. Try and post on my blog at least once a week. You may not know but I post so much more to instagram that never makes the blog. Either I am on the run and giving away the card, or I simply end up not liking it. This year I want to post no matter what. (see examples below of projects that didn't make the blog)

2. Learn to use my video camera! I get asked how to do a certain technique or how I used a tool a certain way a lot on instagram. I want to be able to direct people to my videos instead of somewhere else! Seeing Jenn & Nicole brave the recording front has really motivated me to get off my butt.

3. Reorganize and make a dedicated card photographing space in my craft area. I often make cards REALLY late at night & have to take that same card with me in the AM and sometimes do not have a chance to take a nice picture (see 1. above) So if I can set up my lights and a soft box I plan on getting an area that I can just add backgrounds & props to on the fly and not worry about lighting as much.

4. Get more people to my blog. I really think the Blog Hop from Lawnscaping Challenges really spoiled me. (Thanks Jenn!) I want more people on my blog to get to know and share with. So my last resolution is to start participating more in all the challenges. If you have a favorite, please let me know!

So the theme was winter & this is what I created!

I started this card with the background. I first masked the edges of a 5in x 11in piece of white 100lb cardstock with some washie tape. Next I took tumbled glass distress ink and using an ink blending tool filled in the center and lower portion of the frame. Next I brought in some peacock feathers along the center and upper portion. Near the top I used a bit of faded jeans & a very tiny bit of black soot. I then lightly misted the card stock with some water & heat set.
I then scored the card evenly (just under two inches & 4 inches on each side) and made sure they lined up in the center. I added some of Lawn Fawn's adorable Critters in the Snow. I just love this set & have been using it a lot this year. I also used the sentiment from the Winter Fox mini set & the banners from Bannerific. Lastly I used some snowflake sequins. I left some space over the pengins to write a message.

Keep Hopping!

The next stop on the hop is: Creative Palette

Its not very often I have found myself making a design over and over, but this tag has won hands down; I think I have 10 tags all similar to this one. I adore this stamp set, Winter Sparrows. I used distress ink to water color all the birds & then some distress stickles in Rock Candy on some of the details just for fun. The background paper is 100 lb weight and I used a wood grain embossing folder. I have found the heavier paper stands up better for some of my embossing folders. Lastly I used some snowflakes from the lawn fawn sequins to finish it off. (You can sorta see the reflection of my camera in the silver one).

Stuff I used:

Frosty Polka Dots

I am playing along with this weeks Lawnscaping Challenge.
This theme is one of my favorites since I LOVE polka dots!
I use polka dots in a ton of cards.

So I have a new card today, all decked out for winter. I haven't done many winter themed cards yet this year. Lots and lots of christmas, but not to many winter. That is going to change shortly since I have so many adorable winter stamps. I have used Frosty Friends for this card, along with some snow from the Let It Snow stamp set.

Stamps used:

**Woohoo! small edit to add that I got a new badge for this card from Lawnscaping Challenge. If you love Lawnfawn and haven't played along yet, go check them out!

Little Grey Card

So I decided to do my first challenge for Lawnscaping. I had a really hard time trying to stay inside the rules and not add a little orange to my little halloween inspired card. The pumpkins are a really cute stamp set from Lawn Fawn. I am sorry I can't list all the paper for you as I used scraps on this card and I am horrible about keeping those organized. I usually just pile them on the corner of my desk until they all fall down in a huge mess. :P

If you want to play along too, be sure to visit Lawnscaping Challenge Blog.
