Magical Xmas - Lawn Fawn

 Hello Crafty Friends, Happy Friday! I’m here with my entry for the Lawn Fawnactics Challenge #137 Holiday Critters! I went a little non traditional with this one! 

A demo reel for each showing both the background and the image coloring is available on my Insta if you are interested! 

I used Prize Ribbon distress oxide with the Lawn Fawn Slimline Cloud stencil for the background. With a little peacock feathers distress oxide for the sentiment letters. I loved Jenn’s chunky glittered sentiments so I decided to try it and it’s sooooo sparkly, I love! I also added it to the stars as well.

Hello Crafty Friends! Thanks so much for joining. You should be arriving here from Jenn; a full list of participants is linked over on Jenn's Blog! Jenn is hosting a YouTube LIVE on November 17th at 8p ET sharing how she made this months card; that would be the perfect time to grab some of those supplies and craft along with us! 

For this month I was inspired by the current Lawn Fawnatics Challenge, "Make the Sentiment the Star". For the card background I used Cracked Pistachio, Broken China & Prize Ribbon distress oxide inks. Once that was dry I added some Gansai Tambi starry colors in yellow gold as some splatter. Then I combined the Deer from Ugly & Bright with the snowflake sweater and the deer from Say What? Holiday Critters. I used E47, E44, E43, E41 on the faces & antlers and BG13, BG10; B69, B66, B63 on their sweaters to go with the background. I then die cut the Giant Let it Snow out of sparkle cardstock in Pixie Dust. Once it was all assembled I decided it needed some extra snow and used a few snowflakes from Happy Howlidays (but really there are lots of sets with snowflakes you can use instead)

Hello from Hammy - Mama Elephant

 Hello crafty friends! Todays card features the new Mama Elephant set exclusive to Ellen Hutson "Ice Cream Stand". I could not resist the cuteness and had a card design in my head as soon as I saw it. I also used the frame from the Cloud Nine creative cuts. 

For the background I used Salvaged Patina, Shaded Lilac & Spun Sugar distress oxide inks. I love how they look together. I’ve been using the domed foam on Bristol Smooth paper and loving it. I also added a tiny bit of Diamond Stickles to the ice cream in the mama bunnies hand and in the cart.

Aw, Nuts! - Lawn Fawnatics Entry for #86

 Happy Sunday my crafty friends! I just snuck this entry for the new Lawn Fawnatics Halloween/Fall challenge in under the wire!  I didn't think Id make it to be honest. Its raining and icky out today and my lighting wasn't ideal. I try and use natural light when possible. 

I went with the fall side of this inspiration. I really wanted to use the new set Let's Go Nuts and was eager to make yet another slimline card. Seriously if you haven't made a slimline card yet, I highly recommend it! I love this unique size so much. 

For my background I tried to use a cloud stencil in a new way. I blended on my inks to make it look like fall leaves in the trees! I really hope that comes across as I wanted my squirrels looking like they were having a party high up in the treetops! For the branches I got out an older set, Joy to the Woods and used the trees as my branches. I love how there ends up being so much variety of widths. I also used the one leaf from Big Acorn too. 

Distress Oxide Inks: Ripe Persimmon, Spiced Marmalade, Wild Honey & Fossilized Amber.

I again used my Copic markers to color in my sweet little images. I wanted a more neutral palette for the squirrels against those bright orange and yellows. I chose to use the warm greys. And the little brown acorns I did with the grey side of the browns as well. For the leaves I choose in colors closer to the background as accents.

Missing You - Pretty Pink Posh

Hello Crafty Friends! In my bid to get ahead the other day I made a whole bunch of ink blended backgrounds. Because inkblending was going so well that day I decided to do a few more involved ones. 

For this one I used masking and with masking taped off the bottom of the card. I proceeded to ink blend with a light tumbled glass for the sky. To get a lighter application I chose a large brush and started on the tape moving slowly into the card stock and fading the color so it was darkest near the horizon. I then dried that with a heat gun so I could mask off the sky without trying to get the tape to stick to wet ink. For the pond I wanted something kind of murky looking. I started with a base of peacock feathers and then around the outside edge I used some evergreen bough to tone it down.

For copics I went way outside my normal greens and reached for my dark BG colors for this card featuring the frogs from the Pond Friends stamp set. BG78, BG75, BG72 for the big frog and for the little one I used BG75 as my darkest and added BG70 for my lightest. the lily pads and cat tails were done with BG99, BG96 & BG93. Tops of the cat tails were E44, E43 & E40. The little lily flower was RV11, RV10 and RV00.

Heggie Hugs - Pretty Pink Posh

Hello Crafty Friends, I hope today finds you all safe & cared for. I have a super sweet card to share with you today featuring the Hedgehog Friends stamp set from Pretty Pink Posh. A little masking, a little ink blending and these guys just really carry the card.

I wanted a color that was soft and dreamy but still with a foresty vibe so I got out Shabby Shutters. Guys WHY dont I use this color more, its so perfect! I masked off the bottom fourth of the card for the ground and originally I had planned to ink it in brown but I just loved the green so much I left it. I think it works great with the white outline around the images too, it makes it somehow more seamless. I loved it so much I made a second card (I'll share it later on this week!)

I did the coloring well before I came up with the idea for the card using copics. I'm so sorry I don't have all the colors but I do know the body on the little Hedgie is E50 & E53. I was just having a zen moment while coloring and didn't mark down like I normally do. And I believe reds are RV89, R35 & R32 because I was playing around with new red combos. 

Wish for the New Year - Pretty Pink Posh

Hello Crafty Friends! A very Happy New Years Eve to you! I cant believe we are about to start a new decade... so many changes for the last 10 years. Marriage, baby, jobs etc. So many things to be grateful for. I hope you will enjoy your night in whatever way makes you most happy!

This background was made using my favorite oxide ink blend with Black soot, Blueprint Sketch and Shaded Lilac. I used my Fireworks stencil and carefully applied some glitter pen. It got a little splotchy but I love how it looks anyways! I wish you could see the sparkle in the photo. I then splattered on some copic opaque white for the stars. My little elephant and his party balloon are from from Elephant Friends and I colored them using copic markers. The sentiment and hat are from the Happy New Year stamp set. I white heat embossed the sentiment with detail white embossing powder after making sure my background was really really dry. Lastly I added some Silver Mini Star Confetti.

Copics Used: C3, C1. C0 for  the elephant with R20 for ears and cheeks; N8, N6, N4 for the hat, B69, B66, B63 for the balloon and hat band.

Sorry it's Ruff - Lawn Fawn

Hello Crafty Friends! Now that the holidays are over Ive been shifting my cardmaking focus to other things. A local crafter, Ricky (insta: Bromerocards) had a card drive Live Like Roo foundation. For the card drive I grabbed a bunch of my Lawn Fawn sets featuring Dogs, Cats & bunnies to make a bunch of cards. I didnt get a chance to photograph all of them but I did manage to snag a quick photo of my favorite.



I was at a loss when I first started making all the cards as to what sentiments to use since you never know who the card is going to so I made up my own for this one. I of course had to use a pun; It is Lawn Fawn after all! I just did some simple ink blending with Shaded Lilac & Blueprint Sketch distress oxide, a little copic coloring and I die cut the sentiment using Lawn Fawn alphabet dies. To add texture and interest I first splattered the background with watercolors and then I added the little footprint stamp in the same distress oxide colors.

Santa Bear is coming to town! - Avery Elle

Hello Crafty Friends! I am back with a stamp set designed by my friend Elena for Avery Elle. I was so excited to see Bear all dressed up as Santa!  This set has a special place in my heart because I just absolutely treasure the time my son has spent with out local "Santa". I know someday the magic will end but I am so glad to see his wonder and excitement. Our kindhearted resident travels around our local area and my son has not met any other Santa (so far). Every year he stops for lunch at our little coffee shop and all the kids come and see him. Its such a fun personal magical meet and greet. I cant imagine it any other way now.

A little Retro - Lawn Fawn

I went a bit retro with today’s card... I am a crafty hoarder. I have paper from years of collecting and that’s after a major purge a few years ago. When this set and paper pack came out I absolutely adored it. So while discussing favorites with another craft friend I started digging through my stash and found this pack. I immediately had to use it. I know it’s a bit different from my normal but I plan to do more like this one soon. Break out those old papers and stamps, you might rediscover some favorites!

Its your Birthday, Relax! - Lawn Fawnatics Challenge

My first entry for the new challenge at Lawn Fawnatics is totally tropical. This summer release has me dreaming of the beach in the Caribbean. I used the new On The Beach stamp set, Tropical Backdrop dies, stitched waves borders, and stitched hillside borders.

The sky is made with distress oxide inks in Wild Honey, Ripe Persimmon & Abandon Coral on bristol cardstock. The waves were done in Peacock Feathers and the tree tops in Pine needles. The beach and trunks of the palm trees was done in Desert Storm cardstock and copics.

Feathered Friend - Pretty Pink Posh

Hello Crafty Friends! Today I decided to do some heat embossing and ink smooshing. I recently picked up the Peacock Friends stamp set from Pretty Pink Posh and I had this idea brewing in the back of mind my for a while. I white heat embossed the feathers all over some watercolor paper in a random pattern. Once embossed I smooshed some Distress Ink (not oxides!) on my easy clean mat. I used Peacock Feathers (obviously had to!) Mermaid Lagoon, Cracked Pistachio and lastly Wilted Violet. I then used a few copic markers in similar colors to highlight the feathers and make them stand out from the background. I white heat embossed the sentiment as well on some black cardstock.

Be Friends - Waffle Flower

Hello Crafty friends! I've been so excited to play with some of my new Waffle Flower goodies! I just had to start with the new Be Her set. I started also in on the 100 days project on Instagram and these cards just kind of fell together because of that. My 100 day project are backgrounds. I am just playing with different media and color combos and hopefully at the end of it will have made 100 cards!

The backgrounds were done with distress ink water colored on some Bristol paper. All except the unicorn; if you can spot the subtle off white color. I have no idea what that is but it was mixed in with my pre-cut Bristol. I didn't notice until I was photographing that it didn't match the rest. I did some very simple copic coloring on all the animals. In fact the bodies are all done with C1-C5 in varying amounts. For the sentiments I grabbed some of my other Waffle Flower sets. I think the kitten is my favorite. I love this set so much I had to get the companion Be Him set as well. Can't wait for it to arrive.

Dino-Mite! - Lawn Fawn

Hello crafty friends! Just a few quick cards I whipped up for my local shop here in Chicago; Craft Fancy. I just love playing with the dino sets from Lawn Fawn. This has both Critters from the Past (Tree ) and Rawsome. I used the new Spiffy Speckles petite paper in purple for the bottom layer and some distress oxide in dried marigold.

Everything Dinos! - Lawn Fawn

I was beyond excited to see more Dino stamps from Lawn Fawn. I absolutely love Dinosaurs ever since I saw Land Before time as a child. I think I got my sass from Cera si I of course had to use the puny sentiment for her.

The sky, grass & sand are all the new Spiffy Speckles paper from Lawn Fawn. Its absolutely perfect for scene setting! The water is some distress oxide in peacock feathers and die cut with die from Bayou Backdrops. The sentiment is distress oxide in mermaid lagoon and I stamped it on the new Fancy Wavy Banners. All my images were stamped using antique linen distress ink and then colored using Tombow Dual Brush markers. They were blended using water and a paint brush. I am loving how this no line adventure turned out. What do you think?

I Wheelie do!

Totally inspired by Vanessa to dig out my Hamster set after seeing her newest addition. Working on some Valentine cards and thought this would fit the new challenge at Lawn Fawnatics too. I also decided this year I would use more of my pattern paper hoard. I buy like three of every pack and still hate cutting into it! Am I alone in this??  Background is a simple watercolor with distress inks and the hamster was masked out before I stamped the wheel over top so it looks like he is running on it. I colored the hamster and the wheel with copics.

Hello Bluebird Thank you (Ink Blending)

Hello Everyone! Just wanted a share a bit about this card since Ive gotten a few DMs on instagram.

The ink blending was done on the Bristol smooth cardstock. This is the key to me for really good blends even between colors that do not blend well. Secondly you dont want to use a new foam. If you have a new foam piece I recommend seasoning it. I keep a foam for each of my distress oxides. When I get a new color I grab a foam and make a swatch piece, this is how I break mine in and then its ready to go when I need it. Lastly using water or ink splaters will mask any not to good blending. Plus splatter is fun! Hope this helps! Maybe I'll do a video on my foam storage/process when I pick up the new Oxide colors that just released.

MFT Superstar Challenge 2018

I thought I'd give the MFT super star challenge a try this year in the 3 D category (Innovation Master). I saw a very fun technique in a video done by Dawn H. and decided to give it a try. Be prepared for many more cards done like this! It adds a crazy amount of dimension without the added bulk for mailing. I used no foam tape on this card!
