Brave Lion - June Pretty Pink Posh Release Blog Hop

Hello Crafty Friends! Its that time again, a new release from Pretty Pink Posh! This June release is just chock full of amazing stamps, dies & stencils. Its absolutely fantastic! You definitely need to check out the whole release HERE and probably save yourself some money and just order the whole bundle, ha!

For today's card I am featuring the Zebra from Jungle Friends, the grass from our Nature Essentials Dies and a sentiment from the new Simple Sentiments stamp set. I did simple two color blends with my copics for the zebra to make him a bright and fabulous Rainbow!

Yellow: Y13, Y00

Green: G02, G00

Blue B02, B00

Purple/Indigo: BV04, BV01

Black stipes: N10, N8

I inked one of the grassy boarders from the essential dies with some cracked pistachio distress oxide and cut it down to just wide enough for him to be standing in some grass so the image is grounded on the card. A simple black sentiment on a while sentiment strip really stands out against the black of the background.

A Spooky Halloween Shaker/Pop up - Mama Elephant

Even though its well into the 90s here in Chicago I am already in the mood for my favorite holiday; Halloween! I decided to make a shaker featuring the Meowlloween stamp set from Mama Elephant.

The front of this card I decided to make into a shaker to feature these adorable little cats. They are copic colored using greys (C0, C3, C5 & C7), greens (YG23) and oranges (YR00, YR02 & YR04). The background is ink blended using distress oxides in wilted violet & shaded lilac.

For the inside I decided to do a little more ink blending with twisted citron & the little witch cat on the Pumpkin die from the favor bag die add accessories.

Crafty Christmas Collaboration

I was so super excited when my friend Jess asked me to be a part of her Crafty Christmas Collaboration series! If you are new to the collaboration please visit the original post by Jess here. Basically we all know what its like to face last minute holiday cards and as a way to combat this Jess decided to make cards all year long. As an extra exciting way to keep up the spirit she decided to invite her friends to play along in a crafty collaboration. Each of us put together some supplies to send and an extra for ourselves and this is what we used to make our cards! I was so anxious to see what she would send! See what she made with my supplies here!

Oh man I had a tough time deciding what to send! I had picked out four different company stamp sets and just couldn't narrow it down. So like Christy did last month I snooped her feeds for what she didn't show having used before. This cut out two companies right away. And in the end I had to go with Lawn Fawn since that was the company I bought my first real set of stamp from. Since I didn't get to use this set over the holidays, I figured it was the perfect time to bring it out! I went a little overboard in sending stuff I hoped she would like...

And so here is what she sent me:

I was immediately inspired by what she sent that I sat down that day to make my card. I mean who can resist The Greeting Farm? Jess must have snooped too because I don't own this set. (but I plan on fixing that really soon) As well as the Be Merry Sentiment from Wplus9. That sentiment set was my go to this year. 

For my own card I did a quick distress ink background, a little copic coloring and finished it off with some layers of Lawn Fawn papers. Which I also didn't use much of this year even though they are very much in my favorite colors!

When I got Jess' supplies I was in the middle of playing with my new Distress Ink Oxides and decided to do a bunch of ink smooshed backgrounds. These are some of my favorite non traditional colors for the holiday.  I used the same inks to color the scarf on the bead. Jess knows how much I love to watercolor and my images were stamped on watercolor paper so I had a blast watercoloring all my stuff. I just had to use all the critters and used the banner to tie everything together. I even had to add tiny stars to the bears scarf.

Snail Mail - LawnScaping No. 103

Not the best picture, but I adore this card. Made using the new Lawn Fawn into the Garden set. I made this to enter into the new Lawnscaping challegene so it has a ton of dimension! I mean I normally use a bunch of 3m tape but this thing has layers ontop of layers. The sky background is the bottom layer which is popped up, the white frame layer is popped up with two layers from that layer, the white clouds are one layer sitting between the background and the frame along with the flowers. The humming bird and snail are also popped up from the frame along with the snail mail banner.

Lucky Kitty - Lawn Fawn

Just had to share a quick Lawn Fawn card I made using the new "My Lucky Charm" stamp set.

I also used some gold foil paper for a bright accent and Pretty Pink Posh sequins in sparkling clear & raspberry.

When I first saw the new Lawn Fawn releases I knew I had to have this set; Float My Boat. I adore anything nautical.

I made the background with distress inks - spiced marmalade, stormy skies, peacock feathers & broken china. I just used a sponge applicator to lightly brush it on and blend them together. I start with the lightest color all over and gradually build to dark. I find I will have less sponge marks doing it this way. The sails on the boat I used peacock feathers and stormy skies.

I used some glossy accents on the boat bottom and flag for that little bit of "Bling" for the challenge. I also used it on the string to get that curvy look to hold its shape. The sentiment is from my well used and well loved Sketchy Banners from Simon Says Stamp.

All this was layered onto the new Let's Polka paper by Lawn Fawn. The yellow in this pack is my absolute favorite shade of yellow. Yellow is my favorite color, but this specific shade trumps all the others!

I use a really nifty product for my shaker cards which makes it super easy & no more sticking confetti!! All the confetti can be grabbed from Pretty Pink Posh store, I ADORE her products.

Water Blooms - Mama Elephant stamps

I just got my new stamp set from Mama Elephant, Water Blooms! I love this stamp set, so many options. I also got the border dies, Femme Frames, as well; my penpal sent me a card using them and I fell in love! Hope you like!

A new penpal project

So I don't know about anyone else, but I have horrible handwriting. When I see someone like Kristina Werner for example, with this fantastic handwriting I get all kind of jealous. I HATE writing in my own cards because of this. They say practice makes perfect, and I know I hardly get any practice!! So in light of that, I have gotten a new card exchanging friend, Nicole! This was the first card I sent out. I wish the photo did it better justice. The background is distress inks with feathers from Mama Elephant's Fair Feathers that have been embossed in a clear shimmery embossing powder. Anyways, hope she liked it!!

I just got this stamp set this week and could not stop playing around with the feathers. I also got the matching dies for them and my desk is covered with all kinds of cut out feathers from my experiments. I also got the We R Memory Keepers sew easy... I need twist the trimmer I think, I couldn't keep a straight line to save my life. It still came out cute though!

Celebrate Birthday Card

This is my entry for CAS-ual Friday's - in a word challenge & Lawnscaping challenge No. 73 Let's Party.

I have found I never have enough birthday cards in hand. In fact, I have yet to have more than 1 on hand at any given time. Now that this card is done I expect tomorrow I will find out I need birthday card, or someone will want one.

So the theme was winter & this is what I created!

I started this card with the background. I first masked the edges of a 5in x 11in piece of white 100lb cardstock with some washie tape. Next I took tumbled glass distress ink and using an ink blending tool filled in the center and lower portion of the frame. Next I brought in some peacock feathers along the center and upper portion. Near the top I used a bit of faded jeans & a very tiny bit of black soot. I then lightly misted the card stock with some water & heat set.
I then scored the card evenly (just under two inches & 4 inches on each side) and made sure they lined up in the center. I added some of Lawn Fawn's adorable Critters in the Snow. I just love this set & have been using it a lot this year. I also used the sentiment from the Winter Fox mini set & the banners from Bannerific. Lastly I used some snowflake sequins. I left some space over the pengins to write a message.

This is another holiday card. I love this stamp set from Mama Elephant! The deer that come with this set make my heart happy. I have a soft spot for deer. Anyways... I made the background using distress inks - black soot, faded jeans, peacock feathers & spun sugar blended in to create the purple. I sprinkled the paper with some water to create this effect. See this post by Jennifer Mcguire for how to do this! The banner was heat embossed with silver embossing powder.

Stamps Used:

Its not very often I have found myself making a design over and over, but this tag has won hands down; I think I have 10 tags all similar to this one. I adore this stamp set, Winter Sparrows. I used distress ink to water color all the birds & then some distress stickles in Rock Candy on some of the details just for fun. The background paper is 100 lb weight and I used a wood grain embossing folder. I have found the heavier paper stands up better for some of my embossing folders. Lastly I used some snowflakes from the lawn fawn sequins to finish it off. (You can sorta see the reflection of my camera in the silver one).
