Aw, Nuts! - Lawn Fawnatics Entry for #86

 Happy Sunday my crafty friends! I just snuck this entry for the new Lawn Fawnatics Halloween/Fall challenge in under the wire!  I didn't think Id make it to be honest. Its raining and icky out today and my lighting wasn't ideal. I try and use natural light when possible. 

I went with the fall side of this inspiration. I really wanted to use the new set Let's Go Nuts and was eager to make yet another slimline card. Seriously if you haven't made a slimline card yet, I highly recommend it! I love this unique size so much. 

For my background I tried to use a cloud stencil in a new way. I blended on my inks to make it look like fall leaves in the trees! I really hope that comes across as I wanted my squirrels looking like they were having a party high up in the treetops! For the branches I got out an older set, Joy to the Woods and used the trees as my branches. I love how there ends up being so much variety of widths. I also used the one leaf from Big Acorn too. 

Distress Oxide Inks: Ripe Persimmon, Spiced Marmalade, Wild Honey & Fossilized Amber.

I again used my Copic markers to color in my sweet little images. I wanted a more neutral palette for the squirrels against those bright orange and yellows. I chose to use the warm greys. And the little brown acorns I did with the grey side of the browns as well. For the leaves I choose in colors closer to the background as accents.

Leaf Dance - Waffle Flower

Hello Crafty Friends! Back with card #2 for this new Waffle Flower release. I love Big Bear and Bird designs so I was over the moon to receive Blessed Bear. I was inspired directly from the designers feed for my bear color here. I just love her soft fuzzy bears. This set was so whimsical the card just kind of fell together with the bear dancing in the leaves with his little bird friends.

I started with a dark navy blue cardstock and took some distress ink in black soot to the edges. I splattered the finished ink blended card with several colors of the Gansai Tambi starry color watercolor palette; red gold, yellow gold and blue gold. I used a gold embossed sentiment on a white cardstock banner so it really pops against the dark background. The images are copic colored.

A little Retro - Lawn Fawn

I went a bit retro with today’s card... I am a crafty hoarder. I have paper from years of collecting and that’s after a major purge a few years ago. When this set and paper pack came out I absolutely adored it. So while discussing favorites with another craft friend I started digging through my stash and found this pack. I immediately had to use it. I know it’s a bit different from my normal but I plan to do more like this one soon. Break out those old papers and stamps, you might rediscover some favorites!

Gimme all the buffalo check! - Lawn Fawnatics Challenge 61

Hello crafty friends! Im here today with a super CAS card for the new Lawn Fawn challenge #61. I was directly inspired by our new fall decor. This new die from Lawn Fawn worked perfectly for my idea.

The background is the new Lawn Fawn carstock in rainforest. I splattered the cardstock with a little gold watercolor, die cut the pumpkin using some buffalo check paper I have been hoarding for years, and some green Lawn Fawn cardstock for the vine and leaf and a bit of black for the stem. The Thanks sentiment is die cut using Lawn Fawn's gold sparkle cardstock. (And now I need all the sparklie sentiments on everything!)

Pumpkins! - Pretty Pink Posh

Hello Crafty Friends! Im here with a new card featuring the Pretty Pink Posh August release. This one is waaaaaaay out of my comfort zone! I really loved the new boarder stamps that were included in this release so I was trying different ways to showcase them. Really the simplicity of this card just really hit the mark for me. I also included the new Fall Signs stamps as well because the pumpkin made the perfect spot for a sentiment.

The background is just splattered with some Gansai Tambi Starry Colors in red gold. The images are all colored in Copics. YG97, YG95 & YG93; Y38, Y35 & Y31; YR07, YR04 & YR02; W3 & W1. The stems and sign are all colored with E47 & E44.

Its Almost Pumpkin Time! - Pretty Pink Posh

Hello Crafty Friends! I have a quick card to share with you all today. Just lots of my favorite thing, Ink blending! I used the new Stencil from Pretty Pink Posh Pumpkin Background Stencil and a simple sentiment from the Fall Signs stamp set. Perfect to let someone know you are thinking of them and grateful for their kindness. I added some Raspberry Jewels to finish off the card.

I used all my orange distress oxide inks on this one; Ripe Persimmon, Spiced Marmalade, Fossilized Amber & Dried Marigold. I used the Pixie Spray on the back of my stencil to hold it down and then used a blender brush for my oxides. The sentiment is white heat embossed on black.

Pretty Pink Posh August Release 2019

Happy New Release day crafty friends; See the new arrivals at Pretty Pink Posh!

I don't know about you but Fall is definitely my season so I was super excited to get this release. Halloween is a big deal in my house. We decorate; we trick or treat for several days (there are lots of "trunk or treat" and store "treat" days by us!). So of course I had to make a Halloween Card!

This card features the new coordinating dies from the Boo Stamp set. I used the dies by themselves and decided to use some of the new stencils being released; there are six new stencils! The B is ink blended using Blueprint Sketch and Shaded Lilac Distress Oxide Ink and splattered with gold watercolor. The first O is using the new Spider Web stencil and ink blended with Black Soot distress Oxide ink. The last O is using the new Pumpkin Background stencil blended with Ripe Persimmon and Dried Marigold distress inks. I also used some of the new jewel packs; Boo, to accent  and splattered a simple white background with more black distress ink.

This is a full view of the Pumpkin Background stencil. I used all the inks pictured; Spiced Marmalade, Dried Marigold, Wild Honey & Fossilized Amber. There are so many amazing stencils in this release you have to check them all out. Get the bundle here!

So I broke down and bought some distress paints after watching everyone having fun with them. I am NOT disappointed. I cannot stop playing with them. I didn't have all the colors so the green & purple were just mixed using the other colors. Leaves were cut out using the stitched leaves lawncuts.

Fall - Fall - Fall card

Normally I don't use card sketches - I get an idea in mind and go for it, but when I saw the card sketch (below) and the inspiration cards they really lit a spark. I love all the new patterns in the new Lawn Fawn collection for fall so I decided to try a little paper piecing.

I know mine didn't end up exactly as the sketch shows but with my card and all the patterns it felt really heavy if the back piece didn't go all the way across.

"Big Foot" Card

So I couldn't resist having a different twist on the "Yeti" stamp set from Lawn Fawn. I think he makes a very adorable "Big Foot" type creature. =) I did the background coloring with distress inks. I smeared all the colors on my craft sheet used my water brush to pick up the colors instead of coloring on the paper directly and then getting it wet. I used water color paper for this as well. Just the normal pad you can pick up at any craft store, I cut them into what ever size I need. The papers are from the new into the woods set from Lawn Fawn. The water color paper is on foam squares & the orange patterned paper is on a double layer to pop it out more.

Stitched Leaves Cards

The cards above all have one thing in common, they all used the stitched leaves dies from Lawn Fawn. I adore the entire new release (can't ya tell?). I got all the fall releases and a few of the winter releases including all the paper.

The leaves in card 1 & 2 I cut out in plain white card stock. Then I took a bunch of my shadow & distress inks and started blending. I would choose 2 inks, one light shade and one darker. I would go around the edges first with the light color blending towards the center. Then I took the darker color around the edges but staying away from the bottom and center of the leaves. Then I took black soot distress ink and very lightly flicked the edges. You can see a very good tutorial that I used in this video from Lawn Fawn. Warning - this is very messy and not recommended if you hate having ink on your fingers!

For the backgrounds on card 2 & 3 I used the wood grain stamp from Lawn Fawn. On card 2 I stamped it out on a light craft colored card stock with antique linen. I then cut it into strips and inked the edges so it looked like a fence. Card 2 & 3 also feature another die from Lawn Fawn stitched journaling card. I think it makes just the perfect layering piece. The last card I chose to do unconventional colors. I happen to love turquoise & teal colors. I first die cut the leaves in turquoise and then lightly inked the edges in black soot distress ink. I did a lot of these because its very easy to go to dark. If I make this card again I may pop a few of the leaves up with foam tape, but I wanted to make this one easy to mail out.

Materials Used:

Pumpkin Shaker Card

This was one of my first attempts at a shaker card that actually worked. The secret was the shaker pouches I found at my local craft store "Craft Fancy". I got the smaller 2 inch circle ones figuring I would test it out and see what worked. To my surprise they worked like a charm. They were the exactly the right size to use my nested circle dies which is what I used to create a border to hide the edges of the shaker. I used my "so thankful" stamp set from Lawn fawn for the image behind the shaker. I then used my circle die to cut out the pumpkins large enough to go to the outer edge of the shaker pouch. This is the larger nested die of the two I used and the same one I used to make the outer edge of the border. If I do this design again I will use the larger pouches to better show off the images, or if I use the smaller pouch I will only stamp one pumpkin. The sequins are not linked but are from a mixed pack I found at JoAnn Fabrics.
